The Deal that Was Not

Last night I was so excited. I could not wait to do my Nifty Thrift Tuesday post. I had scored a DEAL.

You see, there was this item I wanted. I wanted it a few months ago when it first came out, and it was very reasonably priced. However, the holidays were approaching and I needed to be shopping for others, not myself. I did put said item on my Amazon wishlist but really didn't expect to get it. I planned to use Christmas money to purchase it.

After Christmas, the item was scarce. I could not find it anywhere. I called, I shopped online, I popped by stores. It was no where to be found.

Then yesterday, I stumbled across something. A website, and there it was! My wanted item was right there! I quickly called the 1-800 number, and got a very polite lady on the phone. Unfortunately, the store was located in another time zone, and it was actually multiple locations of one business. The computer system had been shut down, so the kind lady could not confirm the item was available. She did sound hopeful, and also informed me that it would be 60% off, because they were clearing out merchandise from last Fall. She sent out an email so the locations could check for the item and call me in the morning. She suggested I also go ahead and process an order online, but choose the option for them to "call for payment info". I did as she suggested, and even added a coordinating item (I do love to coordinate!) since it would be 60% off.

This morning I got an email. It was a bright, cheery, but apologetic note that thanked me for my order, but said item was no longer in stock.

So the deal was not to be.

On a lighter note, I did get a fabulous deal on 2 pair of shorts last weekend. These particular designer shorts were originally $54 and I got them for $15. This weekend we enjoyed highs in the mid 70s. Today it is in the low 20's and there is light snow falling. I am toying with cranking up the heat, fixing myself a tropical drink and putting on my new shorts and living in denial for the day. What do you think?

Linking up with Linda at Coastal Charm, because, in the draft of this, it was a REALLY Nifty Thrifty Tuesday. The shorts were still a fabulous buy!

On a side note, my giveaway has ended. Thank you all for your participation. Facts (followers, links, button posting) have been confirmed, the spreadsheet produced, random numbers generated and winners have been contacted. I will post about the giveaway as soon as I have confirmation from the parties involved. Thanks again!
